Learn More About the Types of Art Therapy

We offer two types of art therapy at Art Therapy of Fishtown:

  • Therapeutic/Clinical Art Therapy is a mental health profession that combines psychological theory with the use of art media and creative processes to help people cope with mental health challenges and life stressors. Working one-to-one with a licensed professional, a client can verbally and creatively explore their inner world and gain insight into their mental and emotional states, fostering personal growth and emotional resilience.

Clinical Art Therapy requires an initial evaluation; Art Therapy of Fishtown is an out-of-network provider and insurance coverage will be determined by your carrier.

  • Therapeutic Artmaking, also referred to as “Art as Therapy”, embraces the holistic health and wellness benefits of MAKING art. This approach emphasizes the therapeutic potential of CREATING as a form of self-care and emotional exploration, in a group setting. It allows individuals to explore their thoughts and feelings creatively, find relaxation, reduce stress. This practice can be particularly valuable for those seeking a personal, accessible way to foster mindfulness and promote emotional well-being.

These groups are OPEN to the PUBLIC and are not covered by insurance.
